Award-winning Nigerian artist David Adedeji Adeleke popularly known by his stage name Davido has shared how heavy Fathers Day was for him.

Taking to his Instagram stories the father of 3 shared several messages detailing how this internationally acclaimed "holiday" was taking a heavy toll on him.

In his heartfelt posts, he highlighted that even though the day brought tears to his eyes, he was thankful that God was with him and had bestowed strength upon him.

Difficult Father’s Day for me… But I thank God for strength," the first of Davido's post read.

He went on to add,

"Some days will be like this, water fills my eyes but I will be alright! Forever love!”"

This year's celebration sits heavy on Davido's shoulders as it marks the first Father's Day he's celebrating without his son Ifeanyi Adeleke whom he shared with his wife Chioma Rowland.

Ifeanyi, who was their first and only child together, lost his life back in October last year. The little boy died in a swimming pool at their home in Banana Residence, Nigeria.

Reports indicate that Ifeanyi was with his nanny when the accident happened.

Davido and Chioma had traveled to another state and left their son behind.

A few days ago, while speaking to AB Talks podacast the superstar admitted that tears well up in his eyes each morning, even if they may go unnoticed by others.

He maintains he has never stopped thinking about his little one.

"I miss him every day; there are tears coming out of my eyes every morning; you don’t have to see it," Davido emotionally shared.

He added that he believes his late son is watching over him from above, and that gives him the strength to be strong for himself and for Ifeanyi's mother.

"I look at myself in the mirror, and I said apart from it just being about me, I know how many people love me, I know how many people are depending on me.

My son up there is looking down at me. Apart from me being strong for his mom, which is my primary responsibility, I have to be strong for the world," added the award-winning Nigerian artist.
