Boyz II Men have provided some insights to Sauti Sol on what happened to them when they took a musical hiatus.

Speaking during a Press Briefing in Kenya ahead of the Stanbic Yetu festival, The US band told

"At the time we did it, it was very healthy for us. It was 31 years, we met in school, that was pretty much our life, there was no break for us, so we got to a point where said fine too close, "

They broke up for two years.

"We were doing, music was still changing, it was RNB and pop, we cultivated enough of the world, it allowed us to take a step back, but when we did that music changed and it changed to a diff and that's not our forte, and we tried to figure out where we could fit, and we kind of didn't fit, and we didn't want to change our brand,"

Further explaining that they took their music to different parts of the world. When it changed they sat down and tried to figure out what their next move would be.

"We just decide to go where the love was. We went to Japan, Australia, outside and you know, music is now coming back around, and it's doing its circular you know cycle thing, and we are just waiting for our chance to step our toes back in it"

Sauti Sol listened keenly as Polycarp added their thoughts about their forthcoming hiatus.

"It's been an amazing journey so far, it's been 15 years in the business and it's gotten to a point where we feel that we just need to step back a bit. We are not quitting music.

I just want to put that out. I think the story that we put out was very clear but there were a lot of misinterpretations, from the media and everyone else, but it's just a small hiatus, as we said, just a small hiatus and everything running everything else will still be running, we just feel like we just take a very small, tiny break," he assured fans.
