Bongo Flava was a hit genre in the early 2000s across East Africa and it gave birth to amazing artists.

We had the likes of Ray C, Lady Jaydee, and Nyota ndogo.

These ladies rocked our airwaves with some of the best hits that are unforgettable to date.

Some of them dropped off the face of the music industry with the coming of new musical genres that saw a fusion of Afro into the bongo music industry.

Ray C is known for her hit songs "Wanifuatia nini, Uko Wapi, Mama Ntilie, Nakupenda Regina" among many others.

She relocated to France where she lives with her hubby and you can see her posting happy videos of her living life with friends, family, and her newborn baby.

Lady Jaydee is still a musician and is known for hit songs such as "Yahaya, Siri yangu" among many others.

lady Jaydee opened up a restaurant 'and at times she pops in to cook for her customers, she has also been a judge on the Voice Of Africa competition in Lagos, Nigeria.

Her latest song is called" Unione" and she recently released the music video.

Nyota Ndogo was Kenya's best and is known for her hit song "Watu na Viatu " She is still into music with several hits on her name.

She has a passion for cooking and opened up a cooking business and has also landed a partnership with Raha Maize Flour.

The artists are clearly doing well for themselves in the different ventures of life they chose to participate in.

Most Gen Z would not relate to the kind of quality music got from these artists who were household names.

They literally built the bongo music industry alongside Diamond Platinumz, Alikiba, Marlaw, Matonya, and many others.
