A youthful Indonesian high-school student who hacked Kabarak University's Facebook page has made it clear that he has no plans to hand back control of the account to the Kenyan Higher Education institution.

Kabarak University's verified page, with more than forty thousand followers, was hacked a few days ago by the IT student who has been posting his stuff including his photos.

The young man, who has not yet been identified, has been posting in a foreign language until Saturday evening when he decided to address Kenyans in a language they would understand, English, and explain to them about his action.

Boldly, he made it clear that he was just having fun when he hacked the account and apologized for it. He continued to challenge the institution to take back the account if it can.

"Hello everyone, here I just want to clarify about this account that was hacked, to be honest, I was just having fun so don't take the posts I publish seriously, once again I'm sorry,” he said.

He added,” I will not return this account, but I challenge all of you to reclaim this account immediately. Regards, a student from one of Jakarta's IT-based high schools,”

The Indonesian student was kind enough to offer the institution another option of paying him Sh68,000 to return it.

"I also have another option, you guys just give me 500$ (Ksh 68,000), and I'll bring this page back, the offer is cheap for a big University," he said.

The Baringo-based institution of higher education has however not yet responded to the hacker's demands.

On Friday, Kabarak University reported the hacking of its Facebook account.

"We want to assure all stakeholders and the general public that we are taking all possible measures to regain control of our Facebook page and prevent unauthorized access," the school said in a statement signed by the Vice Chancellor, Henry .K. Kiplangat.

It admitted that the hack caused the disturbance, noting that it will work on preventing it from happening in the future.
