For the better part of Thursday, the word 'Samosa' was a trending topic on Twitter.

This is after a Twitter user opted to use the platform to lament about what she termed as an 'overpriced' latte.

However, tweeps were quick to spot something else from her receipt and this was a Samosa that had been priced at Sh1300.

She posted a bill with a tweet reading "Seriously I can't believe I bought a latte at Sh850 . I know I took myself there but this is unacceptable, this is robbery.*** is the most expensive hotel in Nairobi,".

The bill consisted of one samosa priced at Sh1300 and 2 lattes each costing Sh850 totaling the bill to Sh3000.

People reacted differently to the tweet and many were not as empathetic as she thought they would be.

Some questioned, "What is there to evaluate in an Sh3000 bill?"

Others agreed with her that it should at most cost Sh300 - Sh450. While some said she was just seeking attention from people.

But some people were shocked that the price of the samosa did not bother her and it caused quite a buzz on Twitter.

One person asked "Hii si ni ile samosa tunanunua 50 bob mtaani iko na kachumbari na wengine wananunua na 1300..wee money locate me walai..,".

Twitter users had a field day highlighting the overly-priced samosa the lady had ignored and the memes created were out of this world.

Someone else tweeted about how they bought samosa elsewhere at Sh1750, and everyone was up in arms saying they can't buy samosa that costs more than "Sh30 na hata ya Sh50 umeibiwa,".

However, the lady has been offered a free latte and a Sinia platter for free by another city restaurant.

They went ahead to quote their prices latte-Sh200 and sinia platter-Sh1790 for those interested, to which she replied "Ooh wow, this one I must try!"

A samosa or singara is a fried South Asian pastry with a savoury filling, including ingredients such as spiced potatoes, onions, and peas.

It may take different forms, including triangular, cone, or half-moon shapes, depending on the region.
