Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has declared that the Kenya Kwanza government successfully managed to stop the country-wide demos.

Speaking at an event, the DP said Azimio La Umoja leader Raila Odinga's plot is to get his way to the government through demos.

"Walifika pale Ngong Road wakaanza kuchoma mabasi, naye tumewakalia sahii," he said as the crowd laughed.

(They went to Ngong Road and started burning buses, we have managed to control them this time round)

Gachagua recalled on the suggested bipartisan talks through Parliament adding that's the only way the government will engage the opposition.

"Raila is used to getting into government with his chest, he wants to be part of us by force, that one we will not agree with," Gachagua said.

On Tuesday, while addressing the media, Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua alleged that Gachagua and Trade CS Moses Kuria hired goons to cause chaos during the planned demos, leading to a no-show from the leaders.

Karua added that the goons had a meeting with the two leaders and were instructed to cause chaos, which would be blamed on the Azimio la Umoja team.

"Hooligans were hired to cause mayhem and destroy properties, we are aware they were acting under the command of Gachagua and Kuria. They were recruited at a meeting in Thika a few days ago, and were ferried to Nairobi last night," she said.
