Controversial TV host Jerry Springer is dead

Family said he died 'peacefully' at his home in Chicago.

Jerry Springer, best known for his raucous TV talk shows, has died aged 79. The controversial presenter hosted The Jerry Springer Show for nearly three decades from 1991.

A statement from his family confirmed that he passed away 'peacefully' at his home in Chicago. 

They said that he had been diagnosed with cancer a few with his health taking a turn for the worse this week.
