Two months since the murder of South African artist Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, popularly known as AKA, his family has spoken about their last moments before the event that left them with a lot of pain in their hearts.
In a special and exclusive interview with the country's You magazine, Lynn Forbes revealed that the last time she had a conversation with her son AKA was on the morning of February 10.
Later that evening the musician was killed outside a restaurant by being shot by an assassin.
On that day, Lynn and her sister were traveling to the same place and he came to say goodbye to his mother.
"When we left at lunch, he asked me if we were going to check the car and the wheel alignment. I told him I had done that at the garage, and he said, 'No, Mom, you have to check it at the dealer'," she told You.
She revealed that AKA was quite the brawler and they had some fun banter before they left. Lynn also said that one of the rapper's last words was "I love you".
"He kept teasing us about our trip to the country and said we were acting as if we were going abroad. He hugged me and said, 'I love you', and wished us well," the late musician's mother said.
While driving, AKA blew kisses and this is how he said goodbye, You Magazine reported. AKA Lynn Forbes' mother was out with her sister Trudy and brother-in-law Trevor when she received the heartbreaking news of her son's death.
Lynn Steffan's youngest son called Trevor around four o'clock that night. Lynn knew it was bad news when Trevor sat down next to her and put his arm around her. At that time she thought it was her mother.
"I thought it was my mother. At first, she couldn't speak, then she said, 'no, it's Kiernan,'" AKA's mother told the magazine.
She cried on the floor until Steffan came an hour later to comfort her. "I didn't want anyone to touch me until Steffan came in an hour later and hugged me and said he would take care of everything," she continued.
