Police officers in Kisumu were forced to scamper for safety after locals resorted to stone-throwing.

The officers left in a lorry and a land cruiser while locals followed them as they pelted stones towards the police vehicles.

The locals had engaged the officer in running battles for two hours.

Already, several people have been arrested.

Before they succeeded in sending away the officers, the residents engaged police in cat-and-mouse games as they tried to repel the protestors from accessing the CBD.

At one point, police had to restock teargas canisters after they exhausted the ones they had.

But the locals remained adamant as they chanted anti-Ruto slogans.

The protesters kept on regrouping, giving police a hard time in controlling the rowdy mob.
