• Pastor Sue  Munene has applied to the Kenya Industrial Property Institute (KIPI) seeking to own the trademark to the phrase Twa Twa that went viral in 2019.

• According to her, the term twa twa is a coded language for God-given sex in marriage adding that she is glad that couples have found an easy term to use when talking about sex.

Pastor Sue  Munene has applied to the Kenya Industrial Property Institute (KIPI) seeking to own the trademark to the phrase Twa Twa that went viral in 2019.

 In an interview with Sunday Nation, the pastor noted that if granted copyright, she will use the term exclusively in her religious and educational activities and clarified however that she has no plans of blocking others from using the term and she won't demand royalties for those who will borrow it.

"It is ownership, not for any other purpose. Not for business, not for anything. Do you see how people say they want to be paid? That is selfishness," Munene told the magazine.

When the phrase went viral the pastor used it to refer to intimacy between couples.

Kenyans found the clip and it really seemed hilarious and funny  and it was widely reshared till artists started using the phrase in their music.

She continued by revealing that anyone can use the catchphrase since monetizing it seems to be very selfish disclosing that she thought of copyrighting it early when it went viral but it did not happen since she went abroad and took almost a year.

Adding that, " we wanted to register it in early January 2020. Then we went to US and stayed there for nine months and the matter died"

According to her, the term twa twa is a coded language for God-given sex in marriage adding that she is glad that couples have found an easy term to use when talking about sex.

Celebrities like Stevo Simple Boy, Atwoli, and David Moya have copyrighted their phrases and dances .
