Ugandan singer Juliana Kanyomozi has recounted how she badly wanted a child after her son Keron Raphael Kabugo.

Keron died after succumbing to asthma at the Aga Khan Hospital, Nairobi, on July 20, 2014.

Speaking in a recent interview with KTN News, Kanyomozi said she wanted to be a mother again but the trauma took a toll on her.Kanyomozi's son Taj will be three years in May.

She described him as her gift from God.

"Taj was a baby I wanted to have. I wanted to be a mother again, but it took me a good four years to get to that place where I could open myself up to the idea of getting pregnant again. The trauma that came with the loss of my first child affected me a lot," she said.

The former Tusker Project Fame judge said she knew she could get another child since her mum had her sister when she was 42 years.

"At the time I was 39 years. I do not think I was that old. When I was having Taj, I asked the doctor if I could have another baby and the doctor said ‘yes, of course’. My mother had my sister when she was 42," she said.

A few years back, she said her family stood by her and understood the struggles she had been dealing with after her son died.

Keron died in 2014 in the presence of his mom and dad while receiving treatment for severe asthma in Nairobi.

The singer said that prayers helped her deal with the loss, but she still hasn't completely healed.

"I am still a work in progress, but you learn to be stronger and accept that it happened," she said.
