Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja joined TikTok a few weeks ago and his page has more than 330,000 followers.

He said it will be fun and light relief.

"Hey guys, I am finally on Tiktok. This is my actual page, let me know what to do next on these streets, Karibuni," he captioned in one of the videos.

In yet another video, he expressed how excited he is to have gained so many followers.

"I think I will enjoy this. Thank you for finishing up at the office. Wacha niende home ni-relax. I hope you are not in a noisy bar. Kesho kanisa kama kawa."

His fans have also been engaging him in the comment section, with many asking him to respond to their comments.

Speaking in a recent interview on Radio Maisha, Sakaja credited a friend's daughter who told him to join TikTok since he shares "serious matters" on all his other social media platforms.

Sakaja said the daughter's friends told him that TikTok would allow him to easily interact with the newer generation who are mostly on the app.

"I have a friend whose daughter told me that we discuss serious matters on Twitter and Facebook because there are a lot of agendas and economic figures but there is a new generation that is on TikTok and does not want serious things," said Sakaja.

Sakaja said that he joined TikTok and much to his surprise, he garnered over 300,000 followers within a few  days of being active on the platform.

His numbers have since kept on growing.
