He was forced to work by his uncle S.K Macharia to help keep him occupied.

"I drank my entire first salary.

When I finished school ,my uncle made me go work for him at Royal Card for three months before I went abroad.

I worked in the accounts department."

Maina says at the time he was't so worried about money as his uncle constantly gave him  pocket money almost 5 times his salary.

"I used to come to work when I want. My salary at the time was around 20k.

My uncle used to give me pocket money almost double my salary .Every week he used to give me like 100K. He used to give me any amount I wanted

Reminiscing on his past life, Maina shared

"I had a good life after school but I messed when I went to the UK."

In the past Maina had reveealed he rarely touches his current salary.

At the time Maina was warning his co-host Mwalimu King'angi against sending fare to women.

The celebrated radio host said those are some of the things that make Mwalimu lag behind.

"I do not pay for petrol, I do not pay when I go to restaurants, I was in Mombasa over the weekend and I did not pay anything.

We shinda hapa ukitumia watu fare ya 200."

Mwalimu couldn't believe that even with a salary of over 1 million Maina still gets to walk into restaurants without paying.

"Unapeleka pesa wapi? You do not pay rent you do not fuliza?' Questioned Mwalimu.
