Former Education CS George Magoha has been thrown into mourning following the death of his brother Alex Nyabera Magoha.
Nyabera according to an announcement in a local daily passed on in Allen, Texas in the US on December 6, 2022.
The cause of his death was however not made public.
“The cortege will leave Aga Khan Hospital Funeral Home Kisumu on Saturday, January 28, 2023 for a memorial requiem mass at Township Primary School Yala followed by interment at his Umiru home in Yala, Gem sub-county,” the announcement reads in part.
In August 2021, the CS lost his other brother, Charles Agunga Magoha who died in Sweden.
Magoha served as the CS in Uhuru’s government before the current CS Ezekiel Machogu took over in the changes effected by President William Ruto’s appointments and government realignment.
Early this week, Magoha landed a new job at Maseno University as a professor of Surgery at the School of Medicine.
In an interview with journalists in August 2022, Magoha had hinted at going back to his clinic at the Nairobi Hospital.
Before being appointed as Education CS in March 2019, he served as chairman of the Kenya National Education Council (KNEC)
He also served as the University of Nairobi's Vice-Chancellor between 2005 and 2015.
