Tems ecstatic after Golden Globe nomination

She has been nominated alongside Rihanna for their hit song Lift Me Up

Nigerian songstress Temilade Openiyi, popularly known by her stage name Tems, has been nominated for the 2023 Golden Globe Awards.

If you don't know this the Golden Globe Awards areaccolades bestowed for outstanding achievement in film and television. They're also presented annually.

 They're one of the most prestigious awards, second to the Oscars.

Well, 27-year-old Tems just got nominated for Best Original Score for the song ‘Lift Me Up’ which she co-wrote with Rihanna for the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack.

Celebrating her win Tems took to her socials to express how beyond grateful and shocked she was for the nomination.

Tems shared a post from Marvel studios announcing their nomination. The post read, "Congratulations to Tems, Rihanna, Ryan Coogler, and Ludwig Göransson for their Golden Globe Nomination for Best Original Song! #WakandaForever #GoldenGlobes."

“My God!! this one is too much.” Tweeted the 'Free Mind" hitmaker accompanying the post with a love heart emoji.

The songstress has been nominated alongside Rihanna, Ludwig Göransson, and Ryan Coogler, who were all significant contributors to the song.

Celebrating the news new mom Robin Rihanna took to her Twitter to write, "God be showing out! @goldenglobes."

The "Work" hitmaker has 4 more nominations in her belt.

Their song "Lift Me Up" which was released on November 4, paid tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman, who played a lead role in Black Panther and début in other Marvel movies before passing away in 2020 after a battle with colon cancer.

Tems has been crushing it in the music industry after she rose to fame (amid the global pandemic) after she features in Wizkid's hit song "Essence" which was deemed as the 2021 song of the summer.

She has been nominated for at least 12 awards this year and has won half of them. She has also had crazy features and broken records.

On April 29, she was featured alongside Drake on American rapper Future’s single, Wait for U, from Future's ninth studio album, I Never Liked You.

The song debuted on the Hot 100, making Tems the first African female artist to top the charts. 

Tems also covered Bob Marley’s No Woman, No Cry for Black Panther's: Wakanda Forever soundtrack.

On July 26, Tems gained her fourth Hot 100 when her song ‘Free Mind’ from For Broken Ears, debuted on the chart.
