CNN journalist Larry Madowo has been listed among the 100 most Influential Africans. Larry took to his social media to thank God for this honor, noting it is the third time he has landed this coveted title.

"Honoured to be named among the 100 most influential Africans for the 3rd time. I'm not worthy to be on the list but I'm grateful."

The list is curated by the New Africa Magazine.

Currently doing his assignment in an undisclosed destination, Madowo noted his recognition means he is doing something right. His first award was in 2020, where he told the publishers that

“I’m stoked to be recognized among such great Africans for the second time! Thank you,” he said.

In 2019, Madowo was also one of the many Kenyans on the same list together with nine others that included teacher Peter Tabichi and Adelle Onyango.

The American-based reporter was also recognized among 115 Young Global Leaders of 2020 in the past.

Each year, the World Economic Forum names its Young Global Leaders who are under the age of 40. The organization comes up with a list of 115 names that it describes as individuals with a vision of making the world a better place.

The Forum’s website acknowledged Madowo as a business editor who launched six new business TV shows in Africa.

He was also credited for his work as an on-air correspondent on BBC radio and television and for reporting from more than 40 countries.

Additionally, the journalist as of May 2020, was also voted the winner of the 2020 Philip Greer Award for his financial writing at Columbia University (Journalism School) in New York.

The Phil Greer Award, named after its founder, recognizes individuals who exemplify leadership, passion, and commitment in their journalism fields.

Madowo’s journey to the top from Kenya to London and USA has been noteworthy and inspirational to many.

He first began his flourishing career in numerous Kenyan media houses and some recall him popularizing NTV’s The Trend.
