• Blood clots most commonly come from the deep veins of your legs.

• Occasionally, blockages in the blood vessels are caused by substances other than blood clots.

Fans are sending quick recovery messages to BBC journalist Emmanuel Igunza who is hospitalized. The award-winning journalist has disclosed that he suffered a medical scare this Friday.

"Still in shock over the last 24hrs. Friday started normal but by end of the day I was in ICU ward after a procedure to deal with 2 clots that doctors discovered in both my lungs."

He noted the quick action of the medics saved his life.

"Thanking God for life."

Blood clots most often start in the legs and travel up through the right side of the heart and into the lungs. This is called deep vein thrombosis (DVT).

Emmanuel further added that;

"Quick action by the cardiology team at @MPShahhospital was impressive and crucial."

In most cases, the hope is your body will eventually dissolve the clot on its own. If it doesn't, more drastic measures may need to be taken.

Emmanuel added some more information about the diagnosis saying;

"The clots could have been deadly. Hopefully will be out in a couple of days as doctors say the procedure went well.

According to Mayoclinic.org, the time a person spends in the hospital depends on how severe the clot is and whether the person's body is dissolving the clot on its own.

Kenyans immediately sent recovery messages to the television personality. Some of the comments are below;
