Award-winning Kenyan singer and songwriter Otile Brown was overwhelmed by emotions after being surprised by one of his fans upon landing in the Country from his USA tour.

The pencil artist showed up at JKIA to surprise the singer with his late Grandmother’s portrait and it was an emotional moment.

The Dusuma hitmaker was raised by his grandmother after his parents died while he was still young.

In September while in the USA, Jacob Obunga, popularly known as Otile Brown, caused a stir online after purchasing a Ksh.902,625.00 worth of pendant to commemorate his late grandmother.

” My late grandma Elizabeth surrounded by Diamonds," he wrote

He then tagged Ice Box, which is one of the leading Jewelers in the United States of America specializing in diamonds.

"Thank you @icebox… I love you Rest in Peace.” Otile Brown posted on his Instagram Stories.

The pendant in the Ice Box official store goes for USD 7,500, which when converted to Kenyan shillings is about Ksh.902,625.00.

Otile Brown's Family

He is the last-born child in a family comprising three brothers and a sister. His parents died when he was just 14 years old.

Otile never got a chance to meet his father because he had separated from his mother and he (his father) went to live in Kisumu, while he remained in Mombasa with his mother. The singer grew up visiting his grandmother and stepmother in Kisumu.

Otile Brown started writing songs and singing in Mombasa at the early age of 13 before shifting to Nairobi in 2012.

While in Nairobi, Otile Brown bumped into Comedian Jalang’o who offered to help him. Jalang’o sponsored Otile Brown’s first song after linking him up with Music Producer cum video Director Dr. Eddie who owns Dreamland music.
