• Nameless wants road named after his late friend E Sir.
• A petition to get the ball rolling has been lodged.
Singer Nameless has petitioned for a road to be named after late musician E Sir.
Nameless says a road in South C, the hood that E Sir grew up in, be named after him.
The petition is contained on the website Change.org where Nameless petitions Nairobi governor Johson Sakaja to consider the request.
Nameless details how E Sir died
"19 years ago, Kenya lost a national treasure, a progressive musician, Issah Mmari alias E-sir.
The young talented star aged 21 died in a tragic road accident along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway on his way back to Nairobi from a concert on the 16th of March 2003.
Widely regarded as one of the finest rappers ever to emerge on the East African entertainment scene, his music still fills the airwaves on FM stations across the country. "
The Petition further adds why naming a road or street after E Sir would be a good recognition
"Widely regarded as one of the finest rappers ever to emerge on the East African entertainment scene, his music still fills the airwaves on FM stations across the country.
In honor of this iconic Kenyan artist who was not only a great talent and friend to many but a pioneer in his genre of music, we are calling on the Nairobi County Council (NCC) and The Office of the Ombudsman to name a road, drive or street in South C in 'E-Sir's" name as a way of celebrating artistic talent and in honor of his memory.
To date, E-Sir is remembered for changing the game in the Kenyan music scene. Long after his death, he is still widely regarded as one of the best rappers to emerge on the Kenyan hip hop scene."
At the time of publication almost 300 Kenyans had signed the Petition.
The Statement from Nameless further adds
"E-Sir’s legacy continues to inspire generations after his passing with his talent, hard work, passion and humility. The naming of a road after him will celebrate these great values and recognize the importance of the arts in our culture.” - Nameless.
Sign this petition and let’s honor #SouthCsFinest with a road, drive or street in his honor!"

@ckarani17: I come from an age where I listened to both when they were still alive & can tell you for a fact that I still rock the kid's music. E-Sir's music took over Kenya. About longevity, how many of kids today do u know who listen to BIG? Success too has its era & time, but still success
@TheeMansaMusa· I don't think naming a road after E-sir will really be "in his honour". Think/research of what really is the best way to honour him and those that knew him. Let's not normalise this kind of thinking please..? Thanks
@SouthCFdn : The present Five Star Road from KEWI to Bellevue School is a prime candidate for renaming in E-Sir's honor. He was a regular feature along there
@HILLARYMUTENDE1: This is nonsense e-sir had less than 14 songs how you guys canonized him defeats sense
