• President Ruto promised to appoint six court of Appeal Judges who were rejected by retired President Uhuru Kenyatta.

• The fifth president said he was committed to supporting the peace initiatives.

According to President William Ruto's declaration, former President Uhuru Kenyatta would still be in charge of the region's peace initiatives.

Ruto stated that Uhuru had consented to carry out the missions after his retirement at his first speech as head of state at Kasarani.

He pointed out that the former president had done a good job of safeguarding regional peace.

"On peace initiative in our region, in Ethiopia and the Great Lakes region, I have asked my elder brother President Uhuru Kenyatta who has done commended able engagement with those regions and he has graciously agreed to continue chairing those discussion on behalf of the Government of Kenya," Ruto said.

The fifth president said he was committed to supporting the peace initiatives.

He also thanked Uhuru for agreeing to represent the country.

"I have committed that the Govt of Kenya will support those inititaives that will be chaired by President Uhuru Kenyatta. I want to thank you Uhuru Kenyatta for agreeing to support us and to help me in those interventions."

At the same time President Ruto promised to appoint six court of Appeal Judges who were rejected by retired President Uhuru Kenyatta.

"To demonstrate my commitment to the independence of the judiciary, this afternoon, I will appoint the 6 judges already nominated for appointment to the court of appeal which was done 3 years ago by the Judicial Service Commission," Ruto said.

The six judges were left out when Uhuru appointed 34 others.
