Ambassador Macharia Kamau, the Foreign Affairs Public Secretary, has found himself pressed between a rock and a hard place after his response to Kenyans suffering in the middle east.

This resulted after Lizz Ntojira (former NTV news anchor) posed a question to the Ambassador.

"@AmbMKamau but for your long will our sisters continue being enslaved in the middle east? Does it have to always get here for Govt to intervene? How many lives have been lost in the past? Still, do these rogue agencies that send these young girls out there exist? What is being done?" Lizz questioned.

The Foreign Affairs Secretary promptly responded;

"@lizzientonjira Please. We have told Kenyans repeatedly to stop sending this category of workers to Saudi. You’ve chosen not to listen."

The matter arose after the family of 24-year-old Diana Chepkemoi appealed to the Kenyan government to intervene and bring their daughter home since her employer had obstructed every effort.

Well, his response did not rub off well with a section of Kenyans on Twitter and they opted to hit back with no chills;

Sumbule wa Wafula: Wow! 1. You're lucky to have a decent job from GOK one word privilege! You can travel and work in Saudi courtesy of that. The people you call 'this category of workers' they have not refused to listen, they are only trying to make a living!

Sumbule wa Wafula: 2. If GOK truly can't protect what you call 'this category of workers' why do we have agencies still sending thousands there or GOK isn't aware? Why even have diplomatic ties with a government whose citizens treat our citizens as slaves? Shame

JB": they are only trying to make a living". FYI Ambassador, Kenya kuna mashida. Si Ishida. You might not notice it from your high perch.

African Solutions to the African Migration crisis: With due respect @AmbMKamau, it is not Kenyans, or any #Africans, who are sending domestic workers to Saudi. It is desperation born of #poverty & #unemployment, especially among women with university degrees!

In search of Thiccness: That's the answer you give impoverished Kenyans? Kids that would rather die in the Middle East than live in Kenya? Just because yours are comfortable in Runda / Muthaiga or even abroad doesn't mean that you insult us.
