On the other hand, ODM candidate, Fernandes Barasa carried the day in Kakamega County after garnering 192, 768 votes against his main competitor Cleophas Malala who got 159, 275 votes.
Malala was vying for the seat on the Amani National Congress (ANC) ticket.
"I congratulate governor elect, Hon. Fernandes Barasa and his team for their win. It is deserved and undisputable. I am ready to offer any part of my manifesto that they may find suitable in their new government for the progress of Kakamega. I also laud IEBC for conducting free, fair, credible and verifiable elections. Not all losses are losses, some are lessons,” Malala said in his congratulatory message.
The elections, both in Mombasa and Kakamega took place took place on Monday after being delayed twice by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
