Nairobi Woman Rep Esther Passaris has expressed her frustration after voting in a dark room.
Passaris cast her vote at Farasi Lane Primary, in Westlands constituency but she said she is shocked to find that voting was being conducted in classrooms without electricity.
According to the Nairobi Women rep, the IEBC chose classes that had no electricity in the school.
"I got to the poll station but the classroom that I was voting from didn't have electricity. I had to ask them why they are allowing voters to vote from classrooms without electricity yet there are those with electricity," she said.
Passaris added that she hoped an action was taken before the tallying of votes starts.
"That is the only wing in that school that has no electricity but they told me that IEBC chose the classes that have no electricity. This is a bit insane. By 6 PM, we hope they will move to classes that have electricity when the counting started. It doesn't make sense why they chose classes without electricity."
Esther Passaris was in the company of her family including her daughter Makena Ngugi.
"There were a few technical issues and that made it long for us. This is the first time I am voting."
