Ex-Machachari actor, Tyler Mbaya alias Baha, has for the first time opened up on why he left the show. Baha rose to fame for acting alongside his on-screen brother Govi.

Speaking during an interview with Mungai Eve, he says the move was motivated by the need for growth.

"Malik and I decided to exit Machachari. I believed in myself as an actor. Our lives were at a crunch time, we needed to make decisions that would overrule any bad decisions we had made earlier."

Baha added that after having played a child on the screen, it was time he got mature roles.

"I needed more mature roles. I would have been OK if I was given a different role or if the script changed. I also needed monetization growth."

Baha says that leaving the show made him find out who his real friends were.

"At the end of the day, we had to make our path. We thought we would be called and be told the changes would be implemented but they said that they could do without us."

Adding;

"I spotted fake friends to see the real me and how they would treat me. It was an eye opener for me, I had fake friends but I gave them a chance to see the real me. I made my decisions based on how they treated me. People want you when you are winning."

In a series of videos shared by Govi on his Instagram account in 2021, the thespian also spoke about the show ending saying.

"Many people are asking me 'what happened to my previous show Machachari but I don't know what to say. I left the show in January. The show had started receiving criticism over the age of the characters, with many claiming it was no longer relevant to its target audience."

Addressing that, Govi said, "Rumours going round that we had overgrown the show aaah. Don't listen to such cr*p. The truth is that the show is no longer on and we feel bad but it's okay. Everything that has a start has an ending."

Govi went on to add that he needed space to grow as an individual.

"This was my childhood dream and now it's time to reach my ultimate goal. Let the ending not be centered on us (Baha, Fatso, Stella, and I). We left the show in January. Please give us space."

He concluded by saying,

"There is nothing greater than God's plans, our lives are the best at the moment. We are doing well and expect new projects from us, much love."
