Rapper Juliani has retracted on his statement about Diamond Platnumz's performance at Raila Odinga's final rally.

On Sunday, Juliani had referred to Diamond's performance at Kasarani as distasteful.

"Diamond in Kasarani was distateful. Any Kenyan talent would've sufficed," Juliani wrote.

In a recent post, Juliani said he was much concerned about the public as an artiste, leader, and voter.

Juliani said he was not against Diamond's invitation to perform at the Azimio rally just that his comment came at a time when elections are happening.

He wrote;

"I am a Pan African. Everything African should thrive beyond its border. My issue was - Optics & Timing, especially in an election, a close one like this.

Every Vote counts. We have a whole constituency of creatives who are going to vote. Would've been the best time to have them on your side.

That's all. Kenyan creatives often have to fight to be seen, heard, and appreciated. Being one of the fastest growing industries with massive numbers of employment across the value chain.

Optics matter. The youth shouldn't feel like an after through after Ethnicity, religion, provide sector etc.

We get them involved intentionally. I know AZIMIO IS KEEN on this. So it had nothing to do with them or me for that matter.

My comment was an observation as an active participant in the sector, a leader and a voter."

Other artistes also shared their views;

Comedian Eric Omondi called out Kenyan artists for being 'boring, predictable and complacent.

"It says a lot that at this very definitive and historic moment in our nation none of our local musicians was found Worthy!!! I don't blame anyone but the musicians!!! Unless our Musicians rise to the occasion and take their place, this will only get worse!!! " he said.

"Listen to me, I have said this, and I will say it again. Put in the work!!! We need SHOWBIZ!!! Not these BORING, PREDICTABLE, and COMPLACENT things you keep bombarding us with!!! WAKE UP!!!! WAKE UP!!!"
