Moja Company-Nairobi Expressway closed

• It will be reopened once it is officially commissioned.

• Moja expressway company has apologized for any inconvenience.

The Nairobi expressway has been closed to motorists until further notice.

A notice from Moja says the 27kilometer expressway will remain inaccessible for users until it's officially commission ta a date to be communicated later.

The notice read in part

"The Nairobi Expressway will remain closed on Saturday, 30th July 2022 from 9 pm. Sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused."

The trial runs for use of the Nairobi expressway began in May .

On May 21st, Moja updated Kenyans how the trial run was going noting that motorists have been provided with a video fo how to use the road.

"It's been a week since the Nairobi Expressway trial run kicked off and we hope you got a chance to try it out."

Motorists responded that certain exits were a challenge like The southern bypass exit and Eastern bypass exits. They warned that main road and exits meet very close making it dangerous and accident prone.

Kenyans have reacted sharply to this news of road closure.

Many want to know what will happen to the money in their expressway card.

@jude_lumumbaThis is the first time I have seen a house built , tenants got in but they are now being told to vacate since the landlord has to commission it. What about lost revenue and money from customers tied in unnecessary red tape? We need to be treated better please .

@kamaujstAnd the money in my wallet that is yet to be utilized? Reassure me on my balance in the etc account! But why could this not wait for Monday?? But at least it will let people know huko chini is chaos and probably get you more vehicles on your road!
