• Maina Olwenya had promised to buy his mum a fully furnished house before his death.

• Olwenya's mum says she was hopeful her son would pull through.

Maina Olwenya's mum on Saturday praised her late son terming him a source of happiness during his burial.

The actor was being laid to rest at his grandfather's place in Muranga. Paying tribute during the burial, Olwenya's mum shared;

 “My dear son, I gave birth to you you were a source of joy and happiness. I remember how you used to bring your friends home and gave them sleepovers and tell stories the whole night. I will miss your impromptu home visits.”

The mother was also looking forward to seeing a home he had promised to buy her.

“My son, you promised me lots of things, a better future, taking me for trips and shows, you promised to put up a business for me, Now that you are gone where do I start? You had said you would take me to Nanyuki and surprise me with a fully furnished house. Where are you now my son?”

The mother said that Maina had a nickname for her revealing ;

“You used to call me MAIRUTU NYAMBURA asking me ‘katoto kangu watinda atia'. I will miss those phone calls and text messages asking me about my whereabouts?“

The mother reveals getting phone calls announcing his death, saying,

“I remember getting that phone call that Monday evening. I have been hopeful and praying you would wake up and I will take you home and cook for you. I will miss you greatly my son Willy.“

Olwenya's family revealed that he succumbed to Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy or better known as (HCM) is a condition in which the heart muscle becomes thickened. 

The thickened heart muscle can make it harder for the heart to pump blood.
