Ivana Trump, Donald Trump's first wife and the mother of the former president's older children has died.

Ivana was the mother of Don Jr, Ivanka and Eric Trump.

According to Trump, his ex-wife, Ivana, 73, died at her New York home.

"I am very saddened to inform all of those that loved her, of which there are many, that Ivana Trump has passed away at her home in New York City," Trump wrote on Truth Social, a social media platform.

He added, "She was a wonderful, beautiful, and amazing woman, who led a great and inspirational life."

In a statement released by her family, Ivana Trump is eulogized as a survivor.

"She fled from communism and embraced this country. She taught her children about grit and toughness, compassion and determination," the statement said.

She is survived by her mother, her three kids and a total of 10 grandchildren.

According to reports, police believe the cause of death may be accidental. 

Sources close to Associated Press claim Ivana may have fallen after she was found unconscious near a staircase at her New York home.

Ivana who was born in Czech Republic on Feb. 20, 1949, in Gottwaldov, Czechoslovakia, married the former US president back in 1977 before the two divorced 5 years later in 1992. 

BBC reports that when the two separated, Ivana Trump received a whooping Sh1.6B  in addition to Sh76Mper year as child support.

This also included a 45-room mansion in Connecticut, a whole apartment in her ex-husband's Trump Plaza, and use of the Mar-a-Lago mansion which is located in Florida for one month a year.
