One common thing that Kenyan celebrities have perfected is starting their own fashion brands.
Having been exposed to loads of money that can afford them the flashy and fashionable brands, most of them have learnt that they can monetize their names and fame by venturing into the fashion industry.
It has been a journey that started way back when Calif records and Ogopa Deejays used to have their artists print their faces on T-shirts a phenomenon that took Kenyan music culture by storm.
The trend has now shifted from musicians and the creative idea has trickled down to other creatives who boast a huge following on social media.
Today we take a look at modern-day Kenyan celebrities who own fashion brands.
1. Nameless
Nameless and Wahu recently launched their own clothing line dubbed N-Zone.
N-Zone focuses on bomber and track jackets as well as hoodies.
Speaking after the launch, Nameless said his main goal was to create something that would inspire people.
"I have always wanted to venture into something creative to inspire people. I was still trying to resolve the why and the philosophies behind the N-Zone."
2. Abel Mutua
After he launched his YouTube page where he narrates historical events to his ever-growing audience in a punchy and fun way, he referred to his legion as 'Wakurugenzi' a name that stuck in everyone's mouth.
To capitalize on the name, Mkurugenzi launched his Mkurugenzi apparel which deals with hoodies and T-shirts.
3. Njugush
The comedic together with his wife, Wakavinye teamed up with a local textile brand, to start 'Beknit' clothing line.
With BeKnit, the two brought up their sense of style with a wide variety of looks catering to women, men and children of all shapes and sizes.
4. Azziad
The TikToker is among the few social media sensations who used their fame to start apparel businesses. His Azziad line focuses on hoodies, hats and bags.
5. Stivo simple boy
Stivo recently launched his 'Freshi Barida' apparel soon after he dropped his song bearing the catchy phrase. Stivo's catalog consists of hoodies, boxers and T-shirts.
6. Nonini
After he took a break from music, Nonini resorted to creating content on YouTube and topped it up by launching his Mgenge 2tru line.
Other celebrities who own fashion brands include; DJ Crème - Esqo, Wakadinali- Rong Rende and Buruklyn Boyz - Buruklyn Boyz.
