Kenyans are attacking Mathare MP aspirant Bahati after a video of him struggling to get the attention of Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga surfaced online.

The video was recorded at Kamukunji Grounds during the Azimio One Kenya coalition party rally on Sunday.

This was when the party leader Raila Odinga was introducing parliamentary aspirants present at the event.

Bahati in the video is heard shouting out his name when the party leader was trying to locate his name on the list of aspirants.

"Bahati, Mathare," the singer repeatedly said before Raila called out Lang’ata parliamentary hopeful comedian, Jalang’o.

In the midst of confusion, the Azimio presidential aspirant called 'Mathew' before mentioning Jalang’o.

Sharing the video on his social media platforms, Bahati weighed in on the viral video saying that he accepted the new name 'Mathew' by Raila Odinga.

"Mnasema Baba ameniongezeajina tu hivyo... Bahati Kioko a.k.a. Mathew. Nimekubali ( Baba has given me a new name... Bahati Kioko a.k.a. Mathew and I have accepted it)."

Bahati was issued the Jubilee nomination ticket to contest for the Mathare MP seat last week.

The issuance of the ticket comes 2 weeks after Bahati decried a decision to recall a nomination certificate he had been issued by the party in May 2022.

At the time, Bahati said that he had been asked to quit the race in favour of an ODM party candidate.

The decision was reached due to an existing coalition pact between Jubilee Party and ODM under the Azimio la Umoja- One Kenya coalition pact.

The singer vowed not to keep quiet about it, saying that the ODM candidate is being favoured yet he(Bahati) is more popular than him.
