Kiss FM presenters, Kamene and Obinna are of the opinion that every sort of planned sherehe for the upcoming long weekend should be put on hold. This, they say would be in honor of the late president Mwai Kibaki.

Their opinion was inspired by rapper, Khaligraph Jones who announced that he would not be dropping much-anticipated visuals to his 'Maombi ya Mama' jam in respect to Kibaki.

"Maombi Ya Mama otw, was supposed to drop this week but we had to postpone it to next week after losing a National Hero (R.i.p Kibaki )." Khaligraph wrote.

Kamene and Obinna say that should kick start a ripple effect in the entire entertainment industry, whereby every sherehe should be put on hold until Kibaki is buried.

A state funeral for President Kibaki will be held this Saturday at his Othaya home.

“The death of the former president Mwai Kibaki will also affect our entertainment industry,” Kamene said before Obinna interjected,  “OG had to respect another OG, his new album is out and he was to release a new jam for the album tomorrow, but because of how things are now, he will hold on till the funeral is over.”

Adding, "In line with Khaligraph’s decision, other artists, especially Mugithii artists, have also postponed their gigs in regards to paying respect to the former president."

Kamene proposed that we, "Postpone all riengs (sherehe) this weekend and pay respect to our former president and let's all grieve as a country."

She noted that should they even choose not to postpone their events, Kenyans are struggling financially and would find it hard to afford to attend events and parties as usual.

Obinna argued that more than ever, this should be that one weekend when Kenyans gather and celebrate Kibaki's life and his service to Kenyans.

“It is a celebration of a life well-lived kama huna pesa chukua loan…the sherehe has to sherehe, for grieving, we are grieving about the money we have lost now that children are going back to school, kama ni kukaa home, sawa. Tutakaa home hapo kwa kalocal,” said Obinna.
