Tanzanian singer Diamond Platnumz has opened up about his past relationship with his baby Mama Zari Hassan.

In an interview with BBC Swahili, Diamond said he was never serious about dating Zari Hassan as knew it wasn't going to work.

Currently, he said he has changed his ways and he has nothing but love and respect for the socialite.

"Zari has blessed me with two children and I love them so much. I knew if I ask her to get serious with me, I will have disappointed her and this will make us fall apart again. Our kids will suffer in the midst. That is why I live to respect her. That is why, even when I am in a relationship, I always respect her. I put other women aside and treat her like a queen."

Relating to his latest Netflix reality show, Diamond said Andile whose relationship with Zari on the show was questioned, admitted to Diamond that there’s been a little interest between him and Zari.

Diamond did not like that as Andile is his friend. Diamond told BBC that Andile betrayed him.

"I now believe that even friends can turn against you. Andile is someone I trusted like a friend and I have talked to him a lot about my relationship with Zari," he said.

Adding,

"Andile took advantage of my situation and tried to show Zari affection. He betrayed me and proved he has been admiring what is already mine."

Diamond said that is what most Africans do.

"They have that behavior. I have learnt to be very careful with people I call my friends. Don't shout your success or failures to people."
