Radio King Maina Kageni has told off men who assume a woman can't get married because she drinks or smokes.

Maina says people should learn to look beyond a persons 'mistakes'. Giving his opinion during the Morning Conversation on Classic 105 he said,

"Drinking or smoking does not make a woman not become wife material. She has gone to the club with her money so why are you bothered. How does someone drinking make her a bad person? Our great grandmothers used to smoke so where is the problem? The hurdles women have to overcome in this society are just incredible," posed Maina.

Mwalimu King'angi says he is worried that men who are still single might have a had time getting people to marry.

"I pity men who are not married. Back in the day when a woman went to the club, she was there to sell her body. Women nowadays know when reggae nights, Soul nights, and other nights happen."

A listener called Odulele commented,

"A woman shouldn't smoke or drink and if they do they should stop once they get kids or start a family. Our great grandparents used to smoke in the bushes because they did not want to be seen."

A frustrated Kenyan mum called in sharing how her son is currently dating a woman who drinks.

"Maina how can you advise our sons to marry such women. There is one who my son is dating anakunywa black label Mzinga moja anamaliza. Such ladies might even beat us if they get married to our sons."

A listener called Kevo said,

"I had a girlfriend who used to smoke and chew miraa, when it came to the bedroom she had zero feelings."

A listener called Njoro noted,

'I had a girlfriend who used to drink.  One day we went to the club and she hurled insults at me after she got drunk.  She then went home with another man only to come back later, she was crying blaming everything on the alcohol."
