Professor Hamo was a guest on Mungai Eve's YouTube show, with the two turning up to support Akuku Danger at his 1 mic 30 artistes show.

One of the things he disclosed was that he was a musician before he transitioned into his current career of comedy.

"You know that I used to be a musician. I used to perform in a band as a guitarist, that's where I became a comedian. But because of my madness, I was told to leave the guitar and became the lead singer for Tamasha band for 5 years."

So what had pushed him into the comedy scene, Mungai inquired?

"Ni walevi. They used to talk badly and I didn't know. So I also started responding to their comments. I realised that people started coming for that. The first 3 hours of the show, I would make fun of the way people were dancing, I would sing about what had happened on that day. I would make up songs on the spot based on those things."

He said that these exchanges had heralded his unwitting entry into becoming a comedian,

"I became a comedian without knowing and I was afraid to be called a comedian because ingenipa kazi ya kuandika jokes and I never wanted to be a comedian."

After he left Tamasha he was disillusioned about what career path to take but people who knew him encouraged him to follow the comedic route.

"Eventually, I left Tamasha and for a whole year, I was free. Then I wondered what I was going to do with my life. But people kept telling me that I had a gift and that I should go to Churchill, which I did eventually do in 2014. God is good. In 2015, I became the Professor."
