'I wanted to kill myself,' says Chokoza hitmaker, Marya

• Marya said trouble with her baby daddy started when she was a few months pregnant

Singer Marya says her life changed completely after getting involved with her baby daddy Kevin who doubles up as her 4-year-old son’s father.

The two dated after she left Ogopa DJ's record.

In an interview with Mungai EVE, the Chokoza hitmaker said they met and started living together in Dubai where she got pregnant.

"Our relationship did not end, we just disagreed and I came back to Kenya. I was a few months pregnant," he said adding that she got stressed as she was not ready to be a single mum.

"I was so stressed I did not know how to be a mum and a single mum in short. I even wanted to commit suicide. I wanted to kill myself. The people I approached at that time thinking that they would help me, did not help me."

"I was all alone. I could not even tell my parents. I got a job at a call centre. I took advantage of that. After one year I had given birth and the job ended.

There is no book on how to be a parent. Things happened so fast."

They found a way to work on their relationship which lasted two years before they called it quits for good.

"I reconciled with my baby dad and tried to salvage the marriage. At that time we got back but after two years, we separated and I got into depression. I was jobless and it was extremely hard."

Marya says she is still struggling and raising her son alone.
