Somali businessman Jimal RohoSafi has revealed he bought his first matatu using his campus fee.
Speaking about his experience with Shatta Bway on Radio Citizen, Jimal says his parents thought he would be a pilot.
"My parents wanted me to do an aviation course.I took the 400K fee to buy my first matatu."
Jimal says his parents were disappointed when he bought a matatu, they thought he had joined Mungiki.
" My parents said nimeingia job ya Mungiki. I became a conductor in that matatu for the next two years after I bought it. I had no experience being a driver and I did not want to have to deal with the police."
Adding;
"We are 14 kids, my dad thought I would make him proud as I was the brightest among his kids. My parents hadn't consulted me before they decided they wanted me to do an aviation course.
I already knew what I wanted, the problem was how to get money so I had to wait till I got the cash contributed towards my campus education."
Jimal says he cannot dictate what courses his kids take.
The father of three currently owns 32 matatus.
