The late Nancy Nyambura alias Jastorina was a popular TV actress who lost her life after contracting meningitis in 2014.

Her first born son Stephen Karogo in an interview with vlogger Kamuhunjia revealed that her mother was buried in an exquisite gown that was bought for her to wear when she attend the Kalasha Awards 2015.

She was nominated that year and even won.

But she did not get to collect the award.

Reminising about that period Karogo said, "Her illness was very abrupt. She had gone for burial and when she came back she said she was not feeling very well."

He continued, "I was informed about her illness and being a 'mama's boy' I chose to come home and see her. The same month (July 2014) she started getting better then It got worse.

It was a very tormenting time for me. I had to stop schooling as she was the sole provider. My dad died in 2005. I had to move to a day school so that I could take care of her."

He added, "She had been nominated for two awards a month before her illness (Meningitis) struck. The day she was to go receive an award (Kalasha award) is the same day she died."

Karogo details the last memories he had of his mother.

"I used to visit her in the hospital so many times. The last thing I remember is seeing her on life support. She was struggling to breathe.

I had promised to take her to the Kalasha awards to receive her trophy even if it meant pushing her on a wheelchair. I was called and informed that she had passed on."

Jastorina passed away before she could receive her award, she was buried in the dress she was to wear to Kalasha Awards.

The award, Best Lead Actress in TV drama, was collected by her fellow actors.

“Nancy is not here with us this evening. She is sick in hospital and I can only ask for your prayers so she may feel well,” said her colleague leaving the awards show in a sombre mood.
