Bongo star Alikiba is trending after it emerged that his Kenyan wife Amina Khalef has filed for divorce.

The two have been married for four years.

They held a Muslim wedding known as Nikkah, in 2018 in Mombasa and a reception in Tanzania which was televised a few days after.

He reportedly spent more than Sh50 million, with his close friend Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho is one of his financiers.

Alikiba met his Kenyan wife, Amina Khalef in one of his performances in the country.

Speaking on NTV’s The Trend, last year, Kiba said he met Amina at one of the Koroga Festivals.

Kiba said he spotted her but never knew he was going to marry a Kenyan woman.

"I saw my wife while I was performing at Koroga Festival. There were so many people, but I only saw her. When I was performing, she was very far from her friends, and even when I was leaving I spotted her. But later, there was a guy from the coast who approached him and said his sister wanted to take a picture with me,” he said.

Only for him to realize that the sister who wanted to take a photo was the same lady he had spotted while performing on stage.

The two exchanged contacts and kept in touch.

Kiba said his country people were a little disappointed with him for marrying a Kenyan woman.

In early 2019, the couple welcomed their first child together.

Later in 2019, there were rumors that the couple had marital issues and that Amina had returned to her mother's house.

Alikiba came out to address the divorce allegations affirming that they were still an item.

In an Interview, he admitted that they had issues in their marriage that they were trying to sort out with the wife who was at the time in Mombasa.

He cautioned fans against celebrating other people’s tribulations, as in the long run they may make things even worse.

"Ni kweli mimi na mke wangu tuna migogoro na ni jambo la kawaida kwenye ndoa, ila sijampa talaka hata moja. “Watu wasipende kufurahia matatizo ya wenzao, au labda ni ukosefu wa kazi, hakuna jambo ambalo Mwenyezi amelihalalisha na analichukia kama talaka. Binadamu unapata wapi ujasiri wa kuchochea wenzako waachane kwenye ndoa, ni shetani tu ndio anapenda ujinga huo," he said. (It is true we have issues in our marriage but these are normal problems in any relationship. I have not divorced my wife. People should not celebrate others tribulations.God hates divorce. Its only the devil who celebrates divorces.)

Amina in various posts, sent signals that they were facing trouble in their marriage.

In December last year, Amina talked about abuse and how some men run away because they have not healed from their past wounds.

She then shared a black and white selfie of herself and wrote;

""Don’t mistake Silence for Weakness, Respect is a two-way street, if you want to get it, you’ve got to give it. I am not a Victim for sharing, I AM A SURVIVOR setting the world on fire with my Truth. I never know who needs my Light, my warmth, and raging courage.

"ABUSE is intentional, One knows what they are doing, and one doesn’t give a shit. You can only find heaven by backing slowly away from hell. A narcissist hates anyone who reveals the truth about them. Exposure is their biggest fear!"

Well, it has now emerged that the biggest East African romance has ended. Amina filed a divorce petition on January 8, 2021. The two got a son on February 19, 2019.

In the court affidavit, Amina says that Kiba has not been consistent in providing maintenance and upkeep for her and their child.

She adds that the maintenance provided by Kiba was insufficient and would come after the push and pull between them.

Amina is demanding Sh200,000 monthly maintenance for the upkeep of their two children. She also wants him to pay for medical cover for his children.

She also applied to have their marriage dissolved by the Kadhi's court.

She said Kiba did not provide any maintenance or prenatal care during her pregnancy with their firstborn and he remained largely uninterested in his child’s well-being and hers.
