Bongo Flava music artist, songwriter, and politician Joseph Haule, popularly known as Professor Jay, is fighting hard for his life in hospital.
The star was admitted three weeks ago and has been receiving treatment at the Muhimbili National Hospital in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
A source told Mpasho that his health is deteriorating fast but he is fighting for his life.
Speaking to the press, fellow musician Ambwene Yessayah, better known by his stage name A.Y said, “There is progress but let us keep praying for our brother Prof Jay’s full recovery. For now, the family has opted not to make his ailment public but all this will be disclosed in due course.”
He added that the family has not formally asked for financial assistance, “but as friends, we are obligated to come through for him during this period. He has been a mentor and brother to most of us for decades,” AY added.
Tanzanian artists have been praying for Professor Jay and the family as well as assisting them to raise funds to cover the medical bills which have escalated.
Wasafi's signee Zuchu visited his wife a few days ago.
"We are working on a song. We are praying for the family and hopefully, he will be back on his feet. I am here to support you emotionally and know that we are praying for you," Zuchu told Professor Jay's wife.
His wife said Professor Jay is improving adding that perseverance has made them stay in the marriage for 18 years.
"We have been married for 18 years. We have had our ups and downs. When I was pregnant, we had issues and I left. When most celebrities are at the peak, they cheat and sometimes they don't concentrate on their families."
