Gospel singer Rufftone is vying for the Nairobi Senatorial seat in the much-awaited August 9 election.
He is in the UDA party led by Deputy President William Ruto.
In an interview with NTV last night, Rufftone explained why he did not join ODM as his preferred outfit in his political bid.
He alleged that the ODM party is characterised by hooliganism, contrary to the UDA party.
Giving his example, Rufftone said in 2007, he was chased by his brother, Daddy Owen, with a panga after they had disagreed politically.
He was in the PNU party while Owen was in the ODM party.
"I was born in this country in Eastlands and even in 2007, I remember my blood brother was for ODM while I was in PNU," he said.
"But when we disagreed in the morning, Daddy Owen had to run to the streets with some of his friends with pangas, seeking to harm me."
Rufftone condemned the acts and said ideologies should sell rather than violence.
"When we differ with you politically, you don't have to manifest physically to harm me whether verbal or physical."
Rufftone was in the company with Jalang'o who is eyeing the Langata Parliamentary seat.
