Justina Syokau has opened up on how she fell into depression this year after she was misdiagnosed. The mother of one developed liver and skin problems after she was given the wrong medication.

Speaking during an interview on Radio Maisha, Syokau now says the trolling and the lack of enough funds made her get depressed.

"Depression made me overeat. I would eat and I would not get full. I would even take a whole thermos of tea alone.

I got depression because I did not have the money yet I am famous. People would call asking for help.

Right now things are back to normal, my kid is back in school. Hata look yangu imeanza kuiva."

Syokau says her child was among the few people who pushed her to share her story publicly.

"It reached a point when my child told me I would die if I continued hiding my condition. I borrowed a lot because as a woman I was depressed about my skin. Also, people thought I would infect them.

People said I had been bewitched, some even brought me mafuta ya nguruwe, some offered to take me to witch doctors.

Witchdoctors also started calling me, they were promising to heal my skin but I did not agree to that." Shared the Twendi Twendi hit-maker.
