Bongo star Diamond Platnumz no longer depends on music to make a living. He said he does not depend on music to maintain his flashy lifestyle.

In a recent interview with BBC, the WCB boss was asked to speak about the lessons the Covid-19 pandemic had taught him.

In response, Diamond said he learned that he could not solely depend on music and had diversified his investments.

"The pandemic had me thinking of what would happen in case I am unable to perform. So I have put in place measures to ensure no disruption to my earnings if a similar incident occurs. I have invested my money, and I can maintain my current lifestyle even if I stopped singing today,” he said.

Diamond further urged fellow artistes to invest in other ventures if shows are cancelled for one reason or the other.

"I spent a decade on the road and when the pandemic came I had to stay indoors. I thank God because I used my time well," he said.

The Tanzanian music icon admitted that they would never recover the money lost due to the pandemic, but things are looking up.

"Countries are slowly opening and our business is returning to normal. Also, the pandemic saw an increase in digital music sales," he said.

Diamond Platnumz recently spent Sh5,2 million ($48,000) to buy a new chain bearing his nickname 'Simba', complete with a pendant depicting the head of a lion.
