Media personality Betty Kyallo has opened up on her pregnancy experience.

Speaking in an interview with Picha Clear Films, the mother of the pregnancy interrupted her career progression and slowed her.

Betty was three years into working at KTN when she knew she was pregnant.

Her daughter Ivanna was born in 2013 before her most publicised wedding to former NTV's investigative journalist Dennis Okari.

"Ivanna's pregnancy came as a surprise and we had to stop our wedding. I realised I was pregnant after I missed my periods."

Betty added that after the tests there was the initial tension wondering what would happen and she had just started her job at KTN.

"My show was doing good but the pregnancy interrupted my career progression at that time. I had to be a bit chill, I stopped doing some things and so on," she said.

"I remember telling Dennis that is what it is and sooner than later, we came to terms about it."

She said that the biggest challenge was whether they were going to tell their parents or to get married first.

"Everybody went to their parents and I remember my mum wasn't like really worried since I was already working and I had left her home, she was happy but wished we got married first."

Betty said Dennis was supportive during the whole period of the pregnancy.

Betty said she was initially very active and would walk around the studio but the pregnancy interrupted that.

"I used to hide my pregnancy since I didn't want people to be like, 'She is a pregnant young girl'. I can imagine all the personalities whom I interviewed on my show and they touched my stomach.

After I got big, I chilled down and just read the news for Kenyans. I used to walk around the studio but now I was interrupted.

That is one thing I didn't like about my pregnancy. I used to read the news behind the bench. I was excited although I had not thought of myself as a mum at that time. I was going through those emotions."

Betty also warned people against commenting on how big a pregnant woman is.
