All Africa Music Awards (also referred to as AFRIMA) which is an annual awards event that seeks to celebrate musical works, talents, and creativity around the African continent took place last night.

Below is a shortlist of these famous faces that managed to receive awards in the ceremony that took place in Lagos.

Diamond Platnumz

Also famously known as simba, the Tanzanian Bongo singer received the award for Best artist or Duo in African Dance or Choreography alongside West African singer flavor and central African singer Fally Ipupa.

Sauti Sol

The Kenyan boy band also managed to represent its citizens in Lagos by scooping an award for the best group.

Wiz Kid and Tems

These two West African singers won two awards together, best collaboration and best song of the year. Apart from that, Wiz kid won another award on his own, Artist of the year.

Nikita Kering

The young and famous Kenyan musician was ecstatic after receiving two awards in the Afrima Awards in Lagos, Nigeria. She received awards for the best female artist in East Africa and best Artist R&B and soul.

Fire Boy

The West African singer received two awards, Best Duo African hip hop alongside Cheque a 26-year-old Nigerian who is a singer, songwriter and rapper and Africa Fan’s favorite award.
