Hip hop /reggae musician, Radio host and living legend Nazizi Hirji needs no introduction.

After years in the entertainment industry, Nazizi is a well-recognized artist in the field, not only in Kenya but also East Africa.

As a solo artist and as the lynchpin of the award-winning group Necessary Noize (with her collaborators Kevin Wyre and Bamzigi) Nazizi has proven herself to be a veritable one-woman hit-factory.

Her collaborations with Sean Paul, Wayne Wonder, Akon, Marlon Asher, Freddie Mac Gregor, Julian Marley and Andrew Tosh shows that she is an artist whose talent cannot be boxed in.

Her hit singles; Kenyan gal Kenyan boy, bless my room, let's get down, Fire anthem, Forever, Tension, Jump n shout and Kube which was nominated for the MTV Base awards, won 2 Channel O awards.

Though she has many hit songs from experimenting with different music genres, there is no doubt that Nazizi has reggae music coursing through her veins.

Now, she is releasing her new music album, Mashariki EP.

Mashariki’ meaning East is a new group in the music industry made up of two East African artists; Nazizi Hirji (Kenya) and Mofire (Tanzania).

Nazizi has been part of two award-winning groups; Necessary Noize and East African Bashment crew, household names in East Africa, this marks her first group involving an upcoming Tanzanian artist.

This collaboration project, recorded at SEI records Tanzania, was laid down after music legend TID introduced the two artists four years ago, who later collaborated with the help of Producer Sendo to put together the Mashariki EP which debuted on Friday  22nd of October.

The sound crosses the worlds of singeli music, chill beats and Afropop.
