Kenyan movie starring Bien's brother selected among Oscar submissions

Kenyans have something to be proud of this weekend. And no I am not talking about the curfew ending!

Our film, Mission To Rescue has been selected as the Kenyan submission to the 94th Oscar Awards. This news was revealed by popular actor, Melvin Alusa, the older brother of Bien-Aime Barasa, who posted it on his Instagram page.

He wrote;

Such an honour, thank you, Lord. The Oscar Selection Committee - Kenya has selected Mission To Rescue as the Kenyan submission to the 94th Edition of Academy Awards popularly known as the OSCARS! Mission To Rescue will represent Kenya under the Best International Feature Film Category at the Academy Awards.

The movie is set within a military camp along the Kenya-Somalia border, where the Kenya Special Operations Forces are training for their next mission.

The military team receive word that the Assistant County Commissioner and two others have been abducted by the Al-Shabaab militia.

Under the leadership of Captain Baraza, the soldiers make attempts to rescue the abductees and capture or eliminate the enemy amidst tough conditions.
