Gospel artist Janet Otieno has opened up on how she was misdiagnosed with typhoid yet she was having Covid-19.

Janet says she had travelled to Kisumu to help plan for her father's burial and on returning to Nairobi she started feeling unwell.

Speaking during an interview with Massawe Japnni, she shared

"I lost my dad and planned a trip with my siblings to go and plan

I arrived in Kisumu and came back to Nairobi 7 hours later.

The next morning I started feeling unwell and the doctor said I had typhoid. I had a  bad headache, my chest was misbehaving.

After 2/3 days my husband also got sick then my daughter got infected. Everyone in my house became sick except my son.

We couldn't even leave the bed, even eating was a problem."

Janet says she is thankful her family is now OK.

"Everyone got infected except my son. One day I left the house and I felt the air smelling funny. and that's when I felt something was wrong.

I got tested and the results came through my email.

We thank God we got helped, my daughter was the one badly affected because she couldn't breathe well.

I was scared and I had to constantly check on her. We had to put her on a lot of steroids. The doctor said that was the only way to help her.

My dad stayed in the morgue for two months as most of my family members who had assembled to plan for his burial had contracted the virus.

My mum also contracted Covid-19, I was very worried given her age, that is why when the injections became available we took her for the jab."

Janet says the experience was very expensive for her family.

She says she is saddened at how many people are suffering and can't afford the treatment.
