City politician Alinur Mohamed has advised Kenyan couples to learn to move on when a relationship is not working.

Alinur asked couples to borrow a leaf from Trevor Ombija and Alfred Mutua, who maintained their calm after their long term relationships failed.

"Young couples should learn from the story of Trevor Ombija and Alfred Mutua.

Mutua and his wife Lillian Ng'ang'a parted ways after being together for 10 years while Trevor was dumped after paying dowry and dating for 10 years.

Ukiachwa achika, go in peace. Don't harm each other," Alinur advised.

His sentiments were sparked by an interview by Mpasho, where TV journalist Trevor Omija revealed that he broke up with a girl after paying dowry.

Trevor tried to fight for the relationship, but gave up without demanding his money back.

"Nilijaribu kuforce issues for a while! You know when you are dumped and then you try to insist that you can work it out. Ukiachwa achika. I have accepted and am fixing myself," he said.

On the other hand, Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua also called it quits with his long-term partner Lilian Ng'ang'a.

Even after announcing their breakup, Mutua invited Lilian to his birthday party. They were cool with each other, proving their lasting friendship.
