Singer Sanaipei Tande has opened up on why she wrote 'Rasta Man' song.
Tande with her skilful ability of wordplay in the first verse gushes about her ideal rastaman in her ever thrilling yet sensual sultry voice.
Going on about how he has her confused with his amazing body, his dark skin and how he is.
She then dives into the different sorts of rasta men that exist in various neighbourhoods around Nairobi from Dagoretti to Kahawa all the way to Ruai.
In a post on her Instagram, Tande said 'Rasta Man' is a message and not just a love song.
She said she wrote it because of the misconception that the 'Rasta' people are thugs.
''When I wrote the song Rasta Man several people asked me why I keep writing love songs. RASTA MAN isn't JUST a love song.
It's a message. A message that couldn't be more appropriate and necessary TODAY. 2021.
STILL. We have misconceptions about the 'Rasta' and it is so evident in the way they're being profiled, harassed, arrested and even KILLED today because someone somewhere decided rasta is a thug rasta is a peddler rasta is a user rasta is DANGEROUS. STOP HARASSING OUR RASTA PEOPLE! Kisses.''
