Zainab Chidzuga, mother to media personality Mwanaisha Chidzuga is dead.

Zainab was the former Woman Representative of Kwale county. 

In a statement, Deputy President William Ruto has described her as a selfless and visionary leader.

"We have lost a selfless and visionary leader who served the people of Kwale with dedication. Mheshimiwa Zainab Chidzuga was progressive, steadfast and focussed. We will remember her as a champion of women empowerment," he tweeted

She was once the the Coast Province treasurer for Maendeleo ya Wanawake Organisation (MYWO).

Last year, President Uhuru Kenyatta honoured her during Mashujaa day for championing for the rights of the less fortunate in her county.

At the time, Mwanaisha posted her and wrote;

"Thank you for leading the way, mentoring and being a guardian to so many of us. We love you and forever we will be grateful for impacting our life in so many ways."

The cause of her death is yet to be revealed.
